Uh oh! I think I missed reading somewhere that this was taking place during a quarantine. Are there anymore details to it beyond that...? Or are we waiting for first newsletter to find out more? :)

My little Aries has an upcoming birthday on April 9th. :) Definitely hoping to host a large soiree at the Grant estate to celebrate!

I imagine it would certainly not be the first time. Anyone that encourages her daughter's rebellious, fanciful nature is at risk of being on the receiving end of that Irish temper & tongue. (Good thing deep down she quite approves of Abraham...if only he would help guide her wayward lamb instead of stimulating and motivating her down a less than "ladylike" path.)

@Octavia Thistledown (Tavvi) / (JL) Hello! <3 Fellow Londoner here. :) Octavia's parties sound like exactly the kind of place Charlotte would love to be. Perhaps Octavia assisted Charlotte's mother (Lady Katherine Grant) in establishing her seamstress business when she arrived in London from Ireland? Thus perhaps making her a surrogate "aunt" to Charlotte?

Charlotte's mother (Lady Katherine Grant) is a renowned seamstress and very likely has procured textiles from your family's business. So I imagine their paths may have crossed once or twice. :) Charlotte is of a very amiable nature and also loves a good bout of gossip and intrigue so she'd be happy to "spill the tea" with Beatrice :D

@Lady Charlotte Merriweather (Merry) Hello friend! I hope you don't mind, I shifted our conversation over here. It's easier for me to keep track of everything then having it all in that long community thread. :D I loved @Abraham Griffen (Steve he/him) 's proposed idea that Captain Hawke was in attendance at some of the Academy weekends that Charlotte's father, Admiral Lord Grant, facilitated. He has a very strong, paternal heart for the officers of the Navy and is invested in their education and success - so he very likely could have called upon the Captain at one point in his career to either train him (when he was younger) or request he teach a session on a specific topic. Because of that, I definitely think the two Charlotte's would have met. How old is Charlotte Merriweather at this time? My Charlotte is 22 (almost 23 - birthday party soon to come ;) ) . I don't believe that my Charlotte has any nicknames that are derivative of her name. She's just Charlotte. :D But, as I was mentioning to Steve (Abraham's player), I think that just given certain contexts, people will know who is being talked about. I mean, we all know people in our lives with the same names - and we find ways to signal who we're talking about. I don't think it will be too terribly difficult.

I was giving this some thought. I don't know that any of the nicknames for "Charlotte" (ie: Charlie, Lottie, etc) really fits her. However! I wouldn't be opposed to a nickname unrelated to her given name. (For example, my OOC husband's nickname for me is "starfish". :) ) So I'm definitely open to something along those lines! It's early and nothing immediately springs into my head but I'm 100% down for brainstorming something up. But also - I don't think there will be too much confusion between the two Charlottes. (I hope... LOL!) I feel like context alone will help. We'll be involved in different social circles and plotlines and such, so hopefully that will help. And worst case, people just have to write out our full names when referring to us so people know whos being talked about. :D

Yes, Admiral Lord Grant tends to like to keep his eye on the young men in the Navy, having a paternal sense towards them & a desire to see them succeed. So I think it makes sense that Emmeline & Charlotte would be companions through the connection her father shared with Edmund & Nigel. I'll adjust my post just a touch accordingly. :)
