(GMs, please take this down if it's not alright) I thought a separate thread to organize character connections might be helpful. Basically give a 2-3 sentence bio and then a list of connections you are interested in having BEFORE game. Then people can reply to that individual post to say what they are interested in. That way we're not posting long bios over and over again--although I do want to read those too! 👀 I will do an example post just after this.

She is the named heir for the now tragically departed Earls of Dartmouth, but her title is being contested by a blood relative so she can’t call herself Countess just yet. Truth be told, spending your life thinking you wouldn’t be in charge of anything more complicated than a dinner party only to now be at the helm of a whole-ass estate has been challenging – she’s sought distractions in becoming wholly obsessed with plants and trying to fashion herself as artsy (often failing more than she succeeds).
Wanted Connections:
- Fellow socialite friends: Lucy is 25 and was active on the social circuit up until last year. She’s absolutely itching to get back out and I imagine she’s spent these past months reminiscing about all the ~*good times*~, so people to exchange “Do you remember when the Vicount lost his beloved ocelot on a Piquet hand?” type letters with would be fantastic.

- Someone who is helping her work through her newfound horse phobia: In January of last year Lucy was involved in a carriage accident that ultimately killed the last Earl of Dartmouth. She was pretty banged up and silently grateful that the London social scene packed it in early. @Lady Euphemia Griffen I definitely believe they would have met in their travels and as the past year has been Tabitha's first year in England, she would have been quite happy to see a friendly face at these society events! Tabitha loves to enjoy art although she doesn't think she's very skilled at it herself. Music and literature are where she excells and I believe she would be trying her best to guide and help her navigate society in her first year
Lady Tabitha Catherine Louise de Beauchamp
Tabitha, or Tabby Cat as her father and close Confidant called her, was born on August 8th 1788 in Paris France. She is the only daughter of Duke Richard de Beauchamp and Duchess Cecilia de Beauchamp. Her mother experienced complications during a subsequent pregnancy, and neither mother nor child survived. Her father chose not to remarry and instead chose to focus his energy into making sure he could provide the best life for his daughter and set her up with the skills and allegiances that she would need to succeed in society. As a diplomat, he traveled all over and would bring young Tabitha with him. Through these travels she picked up many skills as well as languages. Through visits to Austria, Tabitha became well acquainted with Marie Louise, eldest daughter of Francis II, and they formed a strong bond, their companionship reaching deeper levels than just friends, although only their closest family and friends knew. When Marie Louise was set to marry Napoleon, it broke both of their hearts, but they understood the duty she had to her people. They spent every moment leading up to the impending wedding together, after which her father whisked Tabitha away to England in hopes that she will find love again and be able to make a future for herself rather than dwelling in the past. While the two young women still write to one another, it's nothing like how it was in the past and can't ever be again or everything they have done and sacrificed for Austria would have been for naught. Seeking Connections: Friends met through travels, extended family, (if someone would like to take on the role of her father Duke Richard de Beauchamp, I would be open to that, but aside from him she has no immediate family), Connections made through her time living in France, Austria, and now England, Connections through society
(I would love to make some connections for Tabby before I start writing her letters to ease my own anxiety)

She toured the Westlands January 1809-July 1810 then left to do a small tour of West Africa from July 1810-December 1810. Euphemia returned to England just before Christmas of 1810. Since returning to England, Effie did attend @Lady/Marquess Emmeline Petty-Fitzmaurice (Robin) 's get together on January 18th. Prior to the miasma Effie was working on coordinating donations for a girls' orphanage. She is now trying to do some of this work by post. Most notably, however, Eupehmia is a skilled artist. He and his mother are 'new money' so Colin grew with his mother in class so he still has quite a bit to learn about the upper class. He is educated and enjoys business and simple pursuits and still fumbles a lot with high society.
Wanted Connections: Friends, business connections (either in gold/silver or precious gems), mentors
Lady Eugenia Glynn Chisholm, Marquess of Anglesey. (Welsh) Sagittarius, Bisexual. - Eugenia, or Genie, is a chatterbox who spends a lot of her time half-studying things that interest her. She's most likely to ramble on about something she'd recently learned, and not *quite* gotten the details correct, but she'll fight you on any corrections. She's stalwart in what she knows, and what she thinks she knows. -She enjoys the colour Emerald green, and has been known to ask those she's traveling with to change if they're wearing more green than she is for a particular circumstance, claiming it's 'her' shade. -Even in Wales, she tries her hardest to keep up with the times, gossip, and her appearances, but is known she can overshare, or prattle on when she's in a social situation I've left most of her familial details quite vague, so I'd love friends, family, connections, school ties, rivals, just about anything.
As is totally in character for me (and not Dinah), here I am posting this after newsletters have already gone out 😂 Character Name: Miss. Dinah Wolverton Bio: The Wolvertons are new to money and society, but Mrs. Wolverton is the ambitious sort, and not shy about seeking introductions for her daughter into society. Beautiful and wealthy, Dinah is caught between trying to please her mother (by marrying into a family as high up the social ladder as she can) and living a life she wants to live (marrying for love and nurturing the most beautiful gardens.) She's artistic, sweet, a little naive, and eager to please, with a particular interest in botany. Wanted Connections: - Friendships, old and new, but especially anyone who can essentially mentor her way into society. (Please take Miss. Dinah under your wing!) - Courtships, whether in earnest or simply for interest in her impressive dowry. - Anyone she can talk to about plants, flowers, trees, you name it - Pretty much anything, to be honest! I'd love to give her as many roots (lol) as possible
Character Name: Newt Fidget

- Some mild adorably awkward romance with any gender - Official government paperwork that needs a reliable hand
- Those who want an update on packages they're sending to/from Bath.
- Honestly? Just some penpals. The mail is a dreadfully boring job, but the current situation has given him an opportunity to meet some truly exciting people. (If not in person)
Character name: Duchess Rosaline Daniels (she/her)

She married the couple in June of 1808. Her daughter, Hope, was born on February 19th, 1809. Sadly tragedy struck the Daniels' home twice and now Rosaline is a widow twice-over. Now her mourning period has ended and she is re-entering society. The wealthy widow isn't interested in marriage, but perhaps the right suitor could change her mind.
Connections:
- Friends (of all types!)
- Relatives (cousins, older siblings, aunt, uncles, anything goes)
- Old flames and or new suitors
-
I finally have the brain space to do a connection so here we go!
Character Name: Miss Elisa Thomas (She/her)
Bio: Miss Thomas' mother owns Thomas Tailors, a successful shop in Devon. Her other mother is a trader with India. She was raised comfortably middle class until she was "discovered" by the Rutherford family one day. She became a ward of that great textile family, as she trained her voice and was pushed to be a great singer, working with the best. Amelia made sure that Elisa came out correctly, but she always never felt that she fit in well (though she was well read, witty and beautiful) She also of course fell in love with a (member of the family? a regular visitor at the Rutherford home?) who was well above her. After that, she left for London to begin her career, where she quickly became a rising star in the Opera. Now she has returned to society, including that of the southwest, in the spotlight and with quite a bit more money. But she still feels like an outsider
Looking For:

* past friends and rivals
* those who look down on her and try and keep her out of society
* admirers and patrons
* Others to talk art with!

Looking For:
* Military Connections (fellow officers, commanders, people under his command)
* People he might be involve in trade dealings with
* Distant relatives
At some point I'm going to have to connect with whoever has claimed Ickworth House in Suffolk. I'm assuming it's the Earl & Countess of Suffolk, since there is no claimed titles for Bristol in the spreadsheet I saw. I mostly just need to know who to write my first letter to! I'm not "playing" until April but knowing who owns Ickworth House will be a perfect start for me.

Character Pronouns: he/him Bio: The youngest son of a noble family, Aramis has spent his 23 years enjoying the benefits of his wealth and good looks, without concerning himself with boring things like responsibility or reputation. His family is the result of intermarriage between noble families from Dahomey, southeast England, and the southeastern Westlands. He is well educated, but what started as a promising future in academics was left by the wayside once he discovered the pleasures of drinking, gambling, the theatre... and, if the rumors are true, the beds of the "artistic types" with whom he began to associate. possible connections wanted: - romantic interests and/or marriage prospects (of any gender)
- participants in inebriated philosophical discussions
- friends from university (I guess Cambridge around 1805-1807ish?) - eccentrics, hedonists, free-thinkers, and the aforementioned "artistic types" for friendship and/or entanglements
Character Name: Lady Kayleigh Blackmore
Age: 21
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Bio: Kayleigh is the eldest daughter of the second son of the late Viscount Blackmore. The current Viscount Blackmore, her uncle Edmund, never married. It was arranged that, as the eldest child of his brother Colin, Kayleigh would move to England when she was of marriageable age and function as her uncle's daughter and heir to the title. Kayleigh's father went traveling in his youth and met her mother Brigid, an untitled woman from a small Irish town outside of Galway. He scandalously married her and moved to her town in Ireland. Kayleigh loved growing up in the Irish countryside and in her heart wanted to remain there. However, she realized that her ability to care for her five siblings and bring Irish representation to the House of Lords is directly related to her rank in society. She is practical to her core and knows a lot about farming and sewing and cooking. Her father did ensure she received a decent education as he knew she would need to fit into Regency society one day.
Kayleigh moved to England and was presented recently and attended a few balls before quarantine (I'll adjust her timeline to make this true). She still feels very out of place in society and has been known to sneak out of balls for fresh air (and maybe whiskey). She is considered attractive and kind although still quite awkward in her new role. Though if you talk to her about Ireland, politically or otherwise, she comes out of her shell very quickly.
Looking For:
Really all things, but specifically:
Marriage prospects. Kayleigh wants to marry above her title ideally to give her more political clout.
Romantic prospects: Kayleigh "don't plan to marry for love". But we all know what that means!
Friends: Can never have too many friends!
Politics: Kayleigh has strong feelings about the status of Irish people in British society.
Family: I have Kayleigh's immediate family as NPCs (parents, uncle) but would happy to have siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles....
Character name: Miss Alice Delphinia Greenleaf
Current Location: London
Orientation: Pansexual
Pronouns: She/her/hers
Age: 30
Relationship Orientation: Polyamorous
Bio: (oh sheesh, it's supposed to be 2-3 sentences :/ )
Childhood
Alice grew up in the wilds of Northumberland, Scotland. Her family was comfortably middle class as her father was a respected parson in the region. Alice being the eldest was often the one who had to care for the children. Though her father was well respected, they had no servants of their own. Ever since she learned to read, Alice was fascinated by stories and theatrics. She had dreams of becoming a great actress and a dame but everyone told her to put these childish daydreams behind her.
Young Adulthood
She ran away to London when she was 20 and the pressures to marry into the peerage became too oppressive. After arriving in London, she managed to get a job pretty quickly as a clerk in W. Gadsby Florists. Gadsby also came from Scotland to London in his younger adulthood so he took to Alice as fellow Highlander. A year later at age 21, Alice fullfilled her lifelong dream of becoming an actress when she auditioned and was acted for a bit part in @(Rachel) Hazel Wynnewood 's Wilde Violet Theatre.
Career
Now that she is 30, she has her own small, ragtag group of players, called the Eglantine Players. They do not have a permanent theater but constantly roam from theater to theater. Alice's troupe, constantly lives in the shadow of the much more established Wilde Violet Theatre.
During Quarantine (aka Right now)
when the quarantine hit and all theaters had to close, Alice got in contact with her dear old boss and was hired on as an assistant shop manager at W. Gadsby Florists. She also convinced Gadsby to hire on many of her out of work actors as temporary flower delivery people during the pandemic. The flower delivery business has been booming since quarantine started as people in and around London have been sending bouquets to loved ones and friends they cannot currently see in person.
Established connections:
@(Rachel) Hazel Wynnewood was Alice's mentor. After Alice got a job at W. Gadsby, she had enough money to also begin acting. She auditioned for Miss Wynnewood at age 21. Miss Wynnewood recognized her talent and gave Alice a bit part. Alice slowly worked her way up in the acting ranks but always had deep ambitions of becoming a director and theater manager of her own company. Alice left Miss Wynnewood's company after the two had a row. We are still ironing out the details.
Wanted connections:

Character Name: Lady Eloise Snowden (she/her)
Bio (2-3 Sentences): Eloise Snowden comes from old money, her father is a Duke (i guess? i'm not sure of the proper historical accuracy here). Her mother passed when she was young, and she was raised alongside her three rambunctious brothers. She loves reading, writing, gossiping, and doing all the things good ladies shouldn't. Such as; running in the grass barefoot, swimming in the pond behind her father's country estate, climbing trees and just generally getting into trouble with her unfiltered thoughts and passionate points of view. She was educated alongside her brothers and was never told she couldn't so she went on to study at Oxford (much to their chagrin). She finished her studies, took a year off of "society" and is now ready to make friends, find love, and hopefully cause some trouble. *wink* She enjoys witty banter, flirting, and keeping secrets. She's a proficient equestrian and adores horses. She's often found testing the limits of respectability via fashion, always on the cutting edge and trying new things. She's a loyal friend and true lover of life, often laughing the loudest and finding joy in everything she does. She's also too quick-tongued for her own good and often finds herself having to play peacemaker when she riles everyone up. If she has a question, she'll ask it, decorum be damned.
Orientation: Queer af, doesn't believe in the gender binary thus is open to all kinds of people! Wanted Connections: romantic interests, friendships (Oxford pals!), and family (brothers, cousins, etc)
Absolutely love this write-up! Well done! I shall frequent La Couronne for my party clothes. If you should be in need of a business partner/investor, that's Emmeline's sweet spot. And she'd be glad to partake of people watching with you, should the occasion arise. :) (Her country home is near Bath).
Character name: Lord Ambrose Etienne Galois Bio: Ambrose was born in the Kingdom of Benin to a wealthy family of silk, fine linen, and wine traders. He is the middle child between two older siblings (twins, brother and sister) and his youngest brother. He has chosen to work as a tailor (we all need a hobby) and studied under a master in Benin and brought that work to London where he now owns a large shop along Saville Street called La Couronne, though he also spends time in Bath admiring the work of tailors there. He also manages (partially) the family business with his eldest brother. He's a fantastic tailor, a bit of a gossip, and is known to be a rather dazzling conversationalist when he is in the mood. He is well read (a graduate of Sankore University) and has a keen eye for trends (both social and fashion oriented). He is always around should anyone a shoulder to cry on or riveting conversation at an event. He affords himself the luxury of the occasional ride in the country on horseback or a seat in the shade as people promenade in the park (though that might be mostly to admire the fine spencers and fitted suits and not the people, who knows). Orientation: Bisexual Wanted connections: -Clients/patrons of his shop (or his families business, they do have rather good shot silks and taffetas) -Friends to promenade or take a trip to the country with -Extended family (His father is from Benin and his mother is from Dahomey) -Business minded folks -Anyone willing to talk about current events with (society, political, or fashion oriented) -Romantic prospects
-Fellow potential trouble makers????? ((I was very nervous to make this and hope it gives the info needed haha))
Always open to potential suitor connections! Mr. Ayles is young, , and kind, but also of the servant class, don't know if Charlotte is open to that.
Hello! Eudora is a 22 year old duchess, I would love for them to have met perhaps at a theatre performance?
Character Name: Viscountess Charlotte Hughes
Bio: Charlotte is the daughter of the late Viscount Jacob Hughes, and the niece of James Hughes MP (another player). At 20 she's a young, unmarried woman who has come into her title through a horrible tragedy. She is a great lover of literature and theater.
Wanted Connections: Distant family, friend, and potential suitor connections would be lovely!!
Hello everybody! I'll be playing Mr. James Hughes MP. Looking for any potential friends, political allies (and rivals), and such. Mr. Hughes is a widower and finally reentering the marriage market after three years. He's 36 years old at game start. I have a friend who will be playing his niece, daughter of his older brother. I have posted a connections thread for him too to track things.
UPDATE: The ports that Abraham visits from time to time are Porto, Lisbon, Tangiers, Gibraltar, Barcelona (Cartegena is in between, so can stop there), Genoa, Naples, Venice, Athens, Constantinople, Beirut, and Alexandria. He tends to sail further north in the Mediterranean to avoid the Barbary corsairs in Tripoli, Tunis and Algiers, but this adds days to any trip to the eastern Mediterranean. An additional surcharge of about 20% of transportation costs will be added to the cost of transport in case of attack by Corsairs if the client wants the faster route. @Sophrona Ramsbury
Good day, milady. Abraham Griffen is a merchant ship captain who would be willing to transport the spices you purchase abroad. The Kestrel is an armed merchant brig and the ship, Captain and crew are most able to protect your cargo as the Captain, most of the crew and even the ship are ex Royal Navy. The Kestrel normally visits ports in the Mediterranean, but can visit more remote ports if needed.
Hi! I've got spice connections! Part of the work I was undertaking in India (August 1808-April 1810) was establishing partnerships and strengthening business relationships with, among other things, spice traders. Part of this is on behalf of a bakery my father bought when I was very young (and home of the original English "cupcakes" which I gave their name... a story I've been asked to tell on occasion), and also on behalf of companies I've invested in. I'm open to investing in your family biz or in helping you to start up your own.
Character Name:
The Honorable Eliseo Isidore Ximénez
He/They/She
22
Bio: The only child of Lord Tomás Vicente Ximénez of Biscay, Grandee of Spain and Lady Harriet Barnes Ximénez, Eliseo grew up in the northern parts of the Iberian Peninsula during the autumn and fall, and in the British Isles during the spring and summer. With a famous playwright for a mother and too many responsibilities that are just perfect for ignoring, Eliseo tends to spend more time worrying about learning new things and painting new scenes than worrying about the pressures of the Spanish Crown on the Euskadi or another war popping up. Having studied abroad in the New World, and travelling around after that, they pride themselves on their mass amounts of knowledge and the great numbers of acquaintances from all over. However, due to the impending wars for their homeland, their father has called them back to Europe, spending time in Spain when possible and sometimes retreating to their summer home for safety reasons. Even with military and governing knowledge, as the only heir, it is important for Eliseo to stay alive to carry on the line, as well as keep a Basque stronghold in Spain.
Wanted Connections:
Distant relatives
Acquaintances from study abroad
Military Friends
Foreign Dignitaries

She misses home, and doesn't have any close friends in England yet, and things here are much more formal than she is used to.
Morven is distantly related to the Blankeney family by her grandmother.

Character Name: Lady Charlotte Merriweather
Bio (2-3 Sentences): Lady Merriweather is a charming widow of independent means, seeking entertainment, companionship, and perhaps...love? Unfortunately we lost her husband, Captain Hawke, at Trafalgar. Word is that Lady Merriweather shot the Frenchman who killed the Captain though, so good for her.
At any rate, after his death, Lady Merriweather seems to have lost the taste for the seafaring life and retired. She fell off the face of the map for a while (as tends to happen to ladies in mourning) but she has re-emerged in her native Yorkshire once more and made herself at home.
Wanted Connections:
- Navy and navy-adjacent folks who would have known her and her husband.
- Ladies of a similar age (late twenties) with whom she may have gone to school
- Snark buddies
- romantic interests?
- those wishing to discuss arts and music
Character name: Dowager Viscount Celeste Snow Bio: A young widow, Celeste is a renown opera singer, elevated to gentry by marriage. Her late husband, a collector of fine arts with a hair-trigger temper, considered her a feather in his cap. When he passed, suddenly, unexpectedly, and suspiciously, Celeste managed the barest social expectations of grief and remorse. Some consider it a masque, nothing more. Since then, Celeste has entertained a variety of lovers, male and female both. And yet, none of her dalliances have manifested in serious marriageable opportunities. Still she makes herself coolly available to potential contracts, as if she separates passion from social advantage. Rumor considers her a heartless opportunist. Jealousy or truth? You decide. Should one be looking, Celeste is often to be found either in the stables or on trail with her latest project--training elite horseflesh. It is said she enjoys the company of horses, hounds, and hawks, better than human beings. And yet, she can also often be found having dinner with the groomsmen or sharing a glass of expensive Bordeaux with the scullery maids. She has very little care for class distinction.
Wanted connections: - riding companions - romantic entanglements, with or without the entanglement
- friends interested in art and music, as well as intellectual debate - potential marriage contracts that improve her financial and social standing. She scoffs at the idea of "true love" though is fascinated by those around her who believe
Character Name: Lord Nicholas Howard; Lord Carlisle
Bio: Age 24. Nicholas' history and reputation is somewhat of a volatile one, and not particularly in a good sense. He's relatively recently come into his title and lands after the death of his father, following only a handful of years after the death of his grandfather. It seems almost as if he's determined to squander as much of his fortune as possible on petty whims, and so no doubt others are eager to take advantage of his open pockets before they run out. On that same subject, his family possesses a few large estates and beget their wealth largely from the land -- lumber and farmland, hunting land, and livestock. In particular, they possess a number of highly valuable livestock animals, from pedigreed hunting dogs to prize-winning racehorses to expensive stud bulls (as well as more run-of-the-mill livestock).
As a child he found himself entered and subsequently removed from a number of boarding schools and private tutors, culminating in dropping out of the University of Cambridge after only one year there. As a presumably-more-mature adult, he conducts himself more charmingly (at least) but is still regarded as rather eccentric -- the sort that's a must-have at parties if only to undoubtedly give the other guests something to talk about later. He tends to dabble in various arts, absolutely none of them which he is good at. This does not stop him from subjecting social gatherings to readings of exceptionally poor poetry. He's also notably fascinated with wildlife, collecting a number of exotic pets from peacocks to big cats to venomous reptiles. He also tends to enjoy hoax taxidermy of "magical" creatures, and never misses a chance to purchase exceptionally-absurd pieces.
He's no stranger to scandal, having spent a number of years after leaving Cambridge (up until his father's death, more or less) getting into trouble with gambling, fighting, drinking, and other relatively unbecoming activities, though the extent of which no one is entirely sure (people often swear up and down they've seen him in all sorts of odd places. He claims to just have "one of those faces"). That said, it's worth noting that despite his capricious and notorious reputation, practically none of the rumors circulating point to him being at all rakish, other than perhaps using overly complimentary and flirtatious language from time to time.
(sorry, that came out a lot longer than anticipated, but there's a lot of good points at which to make potential connections that I didn't want to leave out)
Known Kin:
-- Lord Edward Howard (father, deceased)
-- Lady Adelaide Howard (mother, deceased)
-- Lord Cornelius Howard (grandfather, deceased)
-- Stepmother (yet unnamed, still alive -- open for connections).
-- @Lady/Marquess Emmeline Petty-Fitzmaurice (Robin) (cousins on their mothers' sides)
Wanted Connections:
-- Any family connection that makes sense (aunts, uncles, cousins, younger siblings, etc.)
-- Family trade/business connections, such as any other families that his father may have had agreements with before his passing (can keep this pretty general and work out the details in play if you like)
-- Friends/enemies/other from childhood/time at university. Has been to a number of schools, so as long as the age ranges roughly match up, these can be pretty broad, and can be as substantial or as brief as you like.
-- Anyone he may have gotten into trouble with as an adult, perhaps where they have an unspoken agreement to never mention it, at least in polite company lol.
-- Once game starts, feel free to hit me up for things like charities or trade, or just socially. Can give me a heads up ahead of time or not.
-- Edit: Now that PM is fixed, feel free to PM me if you want any connections that you don't want to be publicly-known, or would just prefer to speak more directly.
Character Name: Octavia (Tavvi) Thistledown
Bio (2-3 Sentences): Appeared in London several years ago; unclear are her origins. Has a small but elegant home just off Manchester Square Gardens, Marylebone, where she gives lively parties with interesting and sometimes astonishingly erudite conversations. Tavvi seems to have her fingers in several small businesses, and is often sought after by those who want either personal or business advice. Although distinctly Hufflepuff at heart, she has the intellect and curiosity of a Ravenclaw, the adventurous spirit of a Gryffindor, and a bit of the unalloyed ruthlessness of a Slytherin when called for.
Wanted Connections:
Suitors: frivolous; serious; gold-digging. All are of interest
Friends: intelligent, open, more interested in things than in personal gossip (most of the time...)
Younger folks: those who desire some assistance in life; opportunities for a new start, advice.
Employees: she has a hand in several small businesses, ranging from a blacksmith to a tailor, and can generally find a position for most folks who wish to work. She also has a large country estate that needs staff
Family: make an inquiry if you are interested in some intrigue
Character Name: Lady Cecilia Carlyle Bio (2-3 Sentences): Cec is the second child of old money/landed gentry, and spends most of her time with her family at their home in London. She has one elder brother (10 months older), Alan Montague Carlyle (Monty), who is both her best friend and long-suffering self-appointed guardian. She's spent most of her life meticulously planning her debut, marriage, and happily ever after. They tend to avoid politics, and will purposefully play dumb to annoy anyone who tries to drag them into it (a trick also used on close friends and suitors deemed uninteresting). Cec dreams of the sort of romance that may not necessarily be realistic, but they devoured stories of courtly love as a child and they're not letting go of it now. Wanted Connections:
Friends?
-She spent most of her summers in/around Bath, with the Pembrokes--specifically @Lady Marion Pembroke (Marshall), and would likely have run into some of the folks in Bath while there!
-Also anyone that knows their brother; Monty's around 19.
Romantic interests/marriage prospects?
-Cec is very much looking.

Update and consolidation!
Character Name: Abraham Ezekiel Griffen
Age: 30
Brief History:
- Born: 1781
- Eton: 1794 - 1796
- Royal Navy: 1796 - mid 1809; Battle of Trafalgar: 1805 - Senior Lieutenant on the HMS Bellerophon. Promoted to junior Post Captain after the battle commanding frigate HMS Naiad.
- Left Navy - mid 1809 - hired by a London merchant consortium to captain an armed merchant brig. Resides in Griffen Townhome, Kensington
Bio: Abraham is the third child, second son of the Marquess Trevor Griffen and the Marchioness Dorothea Griffen, behind his older brother Quintin and sister Letitia. Unlike his scheming and power hungry father and older siblings, Abraham spent his younger years at his mother’s side learning how to care for the land and people his family was responsible to manage in a fair, gentle and responsible fashion. In order to become more like his father and older siblings, Abraham was sent to Eton in 1794 (age 13) and when that did not work, was sent to the Royal Navy in 1796 (age 15), where he worked hard and was promoted quickly. He was a senior lieutenant on the HMS Bellerophon at the Battle of Trafalgar (age 24), where he served with distinction, enough to be promoted to be a junior Post Captain of the frigate HMS Naiad. Abraham left naval service in mid 1809, but Abraham could not get the sea out of his soul and became a ship’s captain of an armed merchant brig, sailing for a merchant consortium.
When at home, Abraham is calm, quiet and introspective using his intelligence and cunning to manage family business and lands to enhance his family’s reputation, when he can. Abraham does enjoy small salons where he can challenge his mind and relax, not needing to worry too much about propriety. He is pretty content with his current life, but feels like something vital is missing. Perhaps it is time to seek a life partner, a pursuit of which he has no experience……
Wanted connections going to into game and in game:
· Family and extended family
· Friends with which he can be honest about how he feels
· Acquaintances with whom he has interacted with while in the Royal Navy and while sailing as a merchant.
· Romantic interest
· Tradespeople and other sailors.

Character Name: Miss Beatrice Ballard
Bio: Miss Beatrice Ballard (24) is the second child of businessman and textile innovator, Mr. William Ballard, and his second spouse, Mrs. Mary Ballard. The success of her father’s business since before her childhood means that Beatrice and her siblings are educated; her more logical siblings, Ms. Harriet (28) and Mx. Francis (26), took well to math, business, and the sciences, while Beatrice herself has always been more fond of the arts and society. Beatrice is fond of gossip, and finds the lives of her peers and the elite endlessly fascinating.
Wanted Connections:
- Friends and connections within Society
- Friends and connections in the Commons
- Rivals or playful enemies
- Eligible matches for her near-spinster half-sister, Harriet
- Familial business connections
- Romantic entanglements
Character Name: Countess Theodora "Theo" Monroe
Bio (2-3 Sentences): A soothing presence to those around her, scintillating Theodora is a 24 year old Oxford graduate with plenty of duties to juggle. Personally debuting her younger sister "Lottie" as they were orphaned early in life, she is also in search of her own academic yet still adventurous sort of husband. Countess Monroe has used her status to form charitable organizations such as the Society for Nutrition to feed the less fortunate, and also sponsors an Orphanage in London.
Wanted Connections: - Academic sorts (of all genders) to speak to her mind. - Well traveled adventurers (of all genders) to marvel in their tales of glory. - All who would attend fundraising balls or join the fashionable "charitable societies" (regardless of their intent to ever personally mix with the "lower classes.")
- Someone involved in the wars, so she may best help children orphaned by war.
- Characters that are NOT nobility to help realize working class conditions.
- Politicians and Clergy to debate the moral responsibilities of the more fortunate.
- Those of dubious background or dark rumor seeking forgiveness, Theodora's strong sense of morality is undeniable and if she comes to like you she can help you out!
Game starts March 1811. I would have graduated December 1807.
If game is set in 1810, then she would have gotten there around 1808, so their paths could easily have crossed when you came back to complete your degree. Lavinia had a tendency to show up in lectures that she had no place being in (higher level class, outside her major etc) she went to topics she saw as interesting.
What year were you kicked out? Emmeline was there 1802-1805, then left to grieve and (tentatively depending on a couple other things) returned 1807 to complete her degree.
She studied the classics of course, but her concentration would have been math/economics. She'd also have an interest in astrology and inventions. (Bear in mind I'm an editor, so Robin is crap with math. Let me know how deeply you'd need me to role play an expertise). She also, because of her family, knows a lot about politics.
I'll update my bio to reflect these nuances.
Character Name: Lady Lavinia Gregory
Age: 24
Bio: Lavinia is the second child of Lady Charlotte Gregory and Lord Stephen Gregory. The family estate is the Christchurch Mansion in Ipswich, a small, but well maintained estate and lands.
Lavinia is often most kindly described as 'eccentric' by her peers and family. She has a love for the sciences (life and physical) and anything dealing with mathematics. She was recently kicked out of Oxford, much to the chagrin of her family. Not knowing what else to do with her, they are hoping to push her out into society with hope that she might catch someone's attention and possibly start a family.
**Note** I am loosely basing her around a Luna Lovegood trope. She is awkward, absent minded, very misunderstood and often doesn't realize many of her faux pas. I will need others to help play this up.
Looking for:
-Oxford Connections (she was kicked out were you there to witness that spectacle?)
-People to talk nerdy with (open to all subjects here: math, physics, chemistry, life sciences, astronomy, recent inventions etc.)
-People who don't understand her (honestly this is a key role to make the most of this character)
-Romance or friendships
Character Name: Lady Jessamine St. Clair
Bio (2-3 Sentences): Twenty-one and fairly recently presented into high society, to say that Jessamine has fit right in is an understatement. Charming, beautiful, and cunning, she fits right into the fancy gowns and social interactions of the era. Though determined to find herself a spouse one day, she remains ever so picky about those she spends her time with.
Wanted Connections:
-Cousins! Literally begging for cousins
-Perhaps friends within her social circle/from childhood
-Embroidery enthusiasts
-Potential romance? 👀
Edmund and Lady Violet might be friends, certainly. She is exceptionally interested in animals, including horses. If he works in London it's possible he works for her grandmother (although I will not be offended if you choose a different family!).
Character Name:
Mr. Edmund Ayles
Bio:
Edmund Ayles is a handsome young stable boy currently working for the ______ family (see below!) Having grown up not knowing his parents, he spent his early years in poverty, but his natural charm and affinity for animals eventually allowed him to make enough to get by tending horses. In addition to managing the horses themselves, Edmund also often drives the carriage to and from society events, where his good looks occasionally attract the attention of those who might not otherwise notice someone of his station. Those who speak to him fin him to be both honest and exceptionally kind, if not precisely well-mannered. Having little in the way of formal education, Edmund prefers to listen rather than speak, though he does have his pet topics just like anyone else.
Wanted Connections:
-A family to work for
-Romantic interests
-Casual or serious friendships
I would love to have an Oxford/France connection of some sort! How might they have met? Violet...may have more guile than she initially lets on in some ways, but is for certain a bit clueless in terms of love.
This is the tentative write-up for my character; I'll update if anything changes once it all gets approved!
Lady Violet is the younger daughter of Lords Blankeney and Coventry, who were tragically lost in a disaster at sea when she was quite young. She has primarily been raised by her grandmother Amelia (Lord Blankeney's mother). She has a significantly older brother, Edward, who is the current Earl of Coventry, and she has grown up spending summers on his estate. Her own title is a courtesy title. Lady Violet is embarking on her very first season after reading French Literature at Oxford. She is considered very beautiful and is quite a fashion-plate (and often wears things that are mildly shocking or over-the-top). While she is charming and funny, she generally comes across as far too sweet and guileless to be considered a true wit by any but her close friends. She wishes to marry for true love, as did her fathers, and has been raised on stories of their marriage. (Lady Violet is bi.) She has never been in love, but she's hoping that will change for her! She absolutely love every animal she sees. She can be very impatient with people when she feels they are acting unkindly.
Existing Connections:
She is close to her older brother, and childhood friends with her neighbour, Theo, who went down to Oxford with her.
Wanted Connections:
-cousins (Violet is likely to have a number of cousins and be close to them, especially on the Blankeney side)
-friends from Oxford
-possible love interests (although probably more so once we're in-game; she strongly believes in love at first sight due to her parents, but who knows?)
-scholars/friends with connections to France
P.S. Lady Violet may have some secrets, but I won't reveal them here just yet.
Character Name: Dorothea "Thea" FitzHugh
Age: 26
Bio: Eldest child of the FitzHugh family, heir to the family name and titles (her father is an Earl, she become a Countess) after the death of her elder brother, recently returned from a tour of Europe edit: because Napolean ruins everything, she's recently returned from either India or Africa though I have yet to decide which. Probably Africa because the logistics of sailing from England to Africa without crossing battlefields are simpler. She is confident, intelligent, charming, allusive, and very gay.
Wanted Connections:
Prior to Game
2 younger siblings, gender undecided
Friends from boarding school (prior to 1803) and/or university (1803-1806)
Fellow horse/horse racing enthusiasts
Childhood friends
People she may have interacted with on her tour abroad (1807-1810)
Once in-game, Thea will certainly be looking for new friends, investment opportunities especially within the world of horse breeding and racing, and possible marriage matches. I'm sorry this is such an awful post, I'm genuinely bad at this early part but I want to make friends!
Character Name: Lady Emmeline Petty-Fitzmaurice
Bio: Emmeline Petty-Fitzmaurice is the second child of William Petty-Fitzmaurice (1st Marquess of Lansdowne/2nd Earl of Shelburne, former Prime Minister) and his wife Sophia (daughter of 2nd Earl Granville, prominently shrewd businesswoman), both deceased.
Emmeline shares the title of Marquess and the estate itself with her older brother, Edmund (NPC), with whom she’s very close. He runs the day-to-day of the estate (as their father did) while she focuses on investments (as their mother did).
Five years ago, she lost her fiance Nigel (Edmund’s best friend, Duke James' older brother) at the Battle of Trafalgar. She’s since loosely dated a variety of men and women just for fun, but nobody’s been able to crack the protective shell around her heart… at least not yet.
Wanted Connections:
Going into game
Neighbors in Bath - I'm a regular at James' parties with Kitty & @Amelia
British Royal Navy - specifically 1803-1805, served with Edmund & Nigel
Friends from Cambridge - I attended 1802-1805
Childhood friends - particularly but not exclusively kids of high ranking politicians up to 1783 when my dad retired
Cousins, Aunts, Uncles - I’m of English and Irish descent
Successful trade folx/business owners - I may have invested
Once in-game
Investment Opportunities - She's extremely selective but audacious.
Potential romantic interests
Anyone passionate about discussing politics, culture, & society news
Character Name:
Eudora St. Clair (She/They) Duchess of Devonshire
Eldest daughter of the deceased former Duke Arthur & Duchess Eliza
Bio:
Eudora is the eldest of the St. Clair family. Before their return back to the family grounds and society, Eudora had spent many years traveling and exploring the world, with rumors swirling of her 'rake like' behavior with traveling companions. She would only come home when absolutely necessary for social events, trades, or situations involving siblings. When her father fell ill two years ago during winter Eudora rushed home, their father dying not long after and before the winters frost could melt her mother would take her last breath. The title, responsibilities, and politics have been thrust upon the newest Duchess. Eudora wishes she could go back to drinking in a new place every night but loyalty and family are far too important to her late father, so they must be to her now.
Wanted Connections:
Possible younger siblings, distant family, or even those who participated in her wilder adventures
Anyone with relations to Dukes or those who would have helped mentor Eudora back into society
Romantic Interests (possibly? Listen, Eudora is trying)
Ways to get involved in smaller plots/help fill character holes they may need
A drinking partner
Old school friends they got into trouble with
Character Name: Lady Aurora Bethridge
Bio (2-3 Sentences): Aurora is the eldest daughter of Earl Robert Bethridge and Countess Juliette Bethridge, elder sister of Lord Derek Bethridge. Her father is still a touch old fashioned and has insisted that the title be passed to his son, unless Aurora can secure a suitable match on the marriage mart. Despite this immense responsibility and pressure, Aurora has remained a sweet soul, who is a fiercely loyal friend to those who have earned that title.
Wanted Connections:
Childhood friends
Distant relations (aunts, uncles, cousins)
Romantic prospects
Tradespersons(The Ethridge family deals a lot in local and foreign trade, so sailors are included in this)

I swear, I don’t think all of my replies actually go through!
As a boy, James was very rambunctious and boisterous. He’s still very athletic and outdoorsy now, but he does have a more serious side that he acquired while getting his education.
Maybe he was closer to Abigail as youngster but as he got older he appreciated Marion’s insights. maybe @Lady Marion Pembroke (Marshall) is the one who has quietly been pushing him towards politics?
